Everyone’s familiar with how Nike signing Michael Jordan catapulted it out of its position as just another mid-level shoe company struggling to be relevant and into it’s status as one of the most valuable cultural institutions the human race has ever produced.
Not everyone knows, however, that even after signing Michael Jordan, it wasn’t that act alone that propelled them to who you now know they are.
It was actually when Annie Leibovitz started creating images of Michael Jordan on the court, in black and white, soaring through the air and over his rivals, legs splayed, tongue thrown victoriously out, that Nike then began to see a real surge in its value and popularity.
Bit of a dramatic comparison, don’t you think?
When you’re browsing around through LinkedIn and you come across someone with a really amazing headshot, don’t you automatically, regardless of who that person is, deem them to be someone of value and stature within their field/company? It’s an expensive looking headshot, and therefore means it’s an expensive person you’re viewing.
As well, a 2016 study by Cornell University found that people that made judgments purely off of other peoples photos retained that judgment for months afterward, even after they had met them in real life.

While the majority of my work is conducted in-studio, I do provide on-site and in-office work for companies and individuals, and am happy to travel to them. This being said, I’ve gotten the process down to a very exacting science, and have a go-to kit for jobs that require me to do so.

I wear a few different hats in this field and (I do events, commercial photography, and am well known in fashion) that all come together to produce an exhaustive knowledge of lighting and technical expertise that my competitors do not.

It’s fairly straight forward and I”m super easy to work with.

The headshots I create for companies and individuals can use either natural lighting or in-studio. I prefer to do things in-studio, however, and will usually only default to natural light if it’s requested by the client. For in-studio backdrops, I’ll typically switch between a grey or a white background but am open to custom colors. Grey and white are usually recommended, however, as they’re the most versatile and will work in the most scenarios.

Each and every one of my sessions comes with at least one retouched headshot - though you’ve the option to have me do as many as you’d like. As far as my retouching practices go, I take a very natural approach and avoid over-doing things, as the last thing I want to do with your headshot is make you look like a mannequin.

I’m more than able to come into your firm, company, or agency and provide a high volume group shoot for any number of individuals. The highest number of headshots I’ve done in one day is somewhere around 500. This being said, typically once the lighting is set up and perfected, things tend to run pretty smoothly thereafter.

I generally alternate between a Nikon D850 and a Fuji GFX 100s for my corporate headshot work. From a lighting standpoint, all of my equipment is Profoto, and I Have about 9 heads in total.

A general corporate headshot session usually involves about 40-60 photos. A super quick LinkedIn session typically involves 10-20. Taking hundreds of images over the course of a session is just really unnecessary, and once the lighting is set up things go pretty quickly.
